Why? Merely since you think that you will genuinely be debt cost-free right after three or five years, but it is not the case. Let me clarify... Those company, right after giving you a very nice pitch (anyway, you did not have option: bankruptcy, property equity - you can loose your property - , debt settlement organization one more type of wolf -), promise you that you will pay a lower interest rate.
