Dear Go Players, registration for the Wellington Open is open (sorry about the pun)

Chahine is playing his second pool game in the KPMC today, Sunday, at noon NZ time against Uruguay. You can watch the game on the Tygem Championship server.

 

WELLINGTON OPEN 2020 - REGISTER NOW

Date: Saturday 29th - Sunday 30th August 2020
Location: Victoria University Wellington
Entry Fee: $20 ($10 for students)
Saturday Dinner: $30 (please register interest in advance)

The 2020 Wellington Open will be held on 29-30th August at the Kelburn campus of Victoria University in rooms AM101 and AM106. The University is a short walk away from the CBD and there is free parking available at the University for the entire weekend. The entry fee is $20, or $10 for students (and optionally $30 for dinner), to be paid in cash on the first day of the competition.

Lunch will not be provided, but complementary snacks will be for both days. We are also arranging a dinner on the Saturday night at Curry Heaven ($30 per person, register interest in advance for booking).

If you are planning on entering the tournament, please register so we have an accurate estimation of participants before the event and we can email you if any changes occur. If you coming from out of town and need accommodation, let us know so we can help.

Tournament conditions

 

  • 6 rounds will be played. Four on Saturday and two on Sunday, with the possibility of any tie-breaker games played on the Sunday.
  • New Zealand rules will be used. Breaking the rules will result in immediate loss of the game and possible disqualification from the tournament.
  • Fischer (20m+15s/move) time control will be used, with 20 minutes main time and an additional 15 seconds per move.
